Feet? Really?

Image
Aaah feet!  Well, you humans call them feet.  I like the more cat-like name of paws!  After all at 3 o'clock in the morning, would you rather have my smelly feet rubbing your nose or my nice warm furry paws touching you? OK, I admit I made that comparison rather easy.  But, let's face facts.  I look at my human's feet and what is so special about them?  I mean dad walks around bare foot all the time and I'm sorry but his feet are nothing to drool over. Even mum won't mention his feet, but she gets down right giddy when she looks at mine.  I have to admit they are rather kind of cute and my toenails... er... claws never come out, except for that three in the morning nose scratch! The one thing I didn't like at first was when mum would give me manicure... or is it a pedicure?  Who knows, I just know I didn't like it it.  She'd grab my paw and made my poor defenseless claws come out and she'd wack off the end!  The very sharp end tha...

Look into my eyes

Image
Alright,, you're here because you have a minor problem which is found deep in your subconscious.  I can help you with that. Just sit down and relax.  Look into my eyes.  As my voice begins to disappear, you'll become more relaxed.  That's it just look into my eyes. When humans do this exercise they are told to follow the watch.  To watch the watch as it slowly goes back and forth.  Well, I don't own a watch and time is irrelevant to us. So instead, listen to the purrs.  One light purr... then a deep long purrr....  Now you, let's purr together.  One light purr.... a deep long purr.  Good, keep purring with me and as you look into my eyes, we'll go into your subconscious together. Aaaah....I see what is troubling you.  Yes, it's coming into view.  More tuna!  That's right... purr... purr... purr.  Yes, that's right, I need more tuna... I mean we need more tuna.  Purr... purr... purr.  Good.  Now ke...

Got my eye on you!

Image
When I lived on the streets for my own safety I usually slept with one eye opened.  I never really had a peaceful, restful sleep.  Between the rain, wind, snow, and humans chasing me away, I never could enjoy a truly peaceful sleep. When I was caught by Cats Protection,  I began sleeping a little better, yet still not totally a restful sleep.  I mean on one side, I had a younger lad who constantly walked on his shelves all night.  I'd start to go to sleep and he'd jump to a lower shelf and on and on it went. I finally decided to fight fire with fire.  I'd wait till he finally settled down about 3:30 in the morning, so I started playing.  I threw all my toys around, even my litter box!  Every morning, my human caretakers would come in and wonder what I did all night.  They'd go about reorganizing my little shelter and by morning I'd have it torn up again. I will say that it has gotten me into a good habit of waking up every morning at 3:...

Got Outside!

Image
OK, I know what you think.  That a door was open and ran like my bottom was on fire and flew out the door before my human could shut the door.  No, it wasn't that dramatic or exciting. Mum picked me up and put me in my cage, Dad then put a cover over the cage and lifted me up.  His first words were that I had gained a little weight.  If I was a girl, it may have bothered me, yet, in hindsight, it wasn't a nice thing for me to hear. That means it won't be as easy to get mum (or dad) to give me some extra food.  I've got a couple of actions to fight back with.  One is my sad puppy dog eyes.  I've got that mastered, it always works.  IF by some miracle that don't work, then I will need to find my vocal chords and start meowing! I know it worked for Louise, maybe it will work for me. Anyway, my journey outside wasn't that exciting, in fact, I couldn't wait to get back home.  We went to the vets, where I was poked and probed.  I was wei...

I need some rest

Image
I'll tell you what, with the strange hours mum and dad come and go, I never seem to be totally awake.  Mum once compared it to jet-lag. I don't exactly know what that means, since I've never been on a jet and all my parents seem to do is come and go.  It's exhausting watching it all. Naturally, I have to get up bright and early.  In fact, I'm up before the birds outside are singing their morning melody.  I have to get up this early to help mum remember to feed me. At times, she can be quite grumpy, but in the end she always gets up and gives me my breakfast.  Then within the hour she's walking out the door and I have the whole house to myself.  Well, at least for a couple of hours.  Without fail, as the sun comes up dad comes home.  I'm so happy to see him, yet all he wants to do is go to bed.   Makes no sense to me, but they seem happy with this arrangement of theirs.  Anyway, at noon, I wake up daddy, just to make sure he makes me...

Please tell me you didn't see that!

Just yesterday I was puffing my chest saying how smart cats are compared to dogs.  You'll never see one of my pals trying to grab a flag on a 40 foot pole!  Yet, today I witnessed what I could only describe as challenging, while in reality it was pure insanity. I was enjoying a nice sunny day, watching the world go by and my attention was squarely on a bunch of small birds, wrens and sparrows, bouncing back and forth in some small trees, more like overgrown bushes than trees, yet those birds were just enjoying it. The branches swaying back and forth in the wind and the small flutter of their wings, made me wish for a short second that I was back outside.  I came back to reality, when I saw a sight I couldn't believe.  My mouth dropped open and I shook my head in disbelief.   On one of those small branches, about ten feet off the ground and about three feet away from a sturdy branch, sat a rather large chubby cat, holding on for dear life.  It was...

Ain't I Cute?

Image
Hey, come on... admit it... I AM CUTE.  I'm quite bashful too.  You ask my human parents and they'll tell you how beautiful I am.  It's easy to photograph a purrfect subject as myself, yet it also needs to be said how good of a photographer my mum can be. I do think that some of my best photos are of me sleeping.  It is my purrfectly great place to be.  I wake up and see these photos of myself and later I'll fall asleep thinking about my last sleep and photos like this. Now, don't think all I do is sleep.  I am quite an energetic cat and I spend a lot of time hunting for food.  Yes, it's in the kitchen and yes, it's in a bowl, but it takes all my hunting skills to convince mum or dad that I am starving and they need to feed me right now! Sometimes they believe me, sometimes they don't.  That's part of the challenge of the hunt.  It ends up being quite and exhausting exercise!
